1. Three-Tier Adjustment, One-Step Precision
Old Qin lifted the protective cover, revealing three rows of rollers stacked vertically. "Look here," he said, pointing a wrench at the adjustment mechanism of the second roller set. "With the old machine, adjusting the gap required six people coordinating-two on top, two below, and others watching the scales on the sides. Now?"
He released the locking handle and turned the adjustment dial with one hand. Numbers in the viewing window changed steadily as the upper and lower rows of rollers moved synchronously, achieving a gap precision of 0.05 millimeters. "Before, one adjustment took at least twenty minutes. Now, it's done in three. The key," he paused, "is that adjusting the top doesn't affect the bottom, and adjusting the left doesn't disturb the right."
This zoned, independent adjustment design tackles the biggest pain point in decking production: localized deformation. When the sheet width changes, only the rollers in the corresponding area need adjustment, while the rest remain untouched. The touchscreen on the console displays real-time pressure curves for each section, making it instantly clear where to tighten or loosen.
2. Breakage Memory, Intelligent Reconnection
"What's the worst thing? A strip break," said operator Xiao Liu. In the past, if a strip broke on the production line, rethreading the material meant at least half an hour of downtime, and it required two people to coordinate-one feeding and one pulling.
The new machine's material rack has an "electronic eye"-a line-scan CCD sensor. It remembers the edge position of the steel strip. After a break, just press the "Automatic Positioning" button, and the feed roller will reverse along the memorized path, precisely delivering the strip head to the threading position. Even more impressive is the guide plate design: a seven-segment adjustable V-groove, where a handle can change the opening angle to accommodate coils of different thicknesses.
"It's like threading a needle," Xiao Liu demonstrated. "See, the steel strip finds the opening by itself."
3. Quick-Die Change, Four Steps to Transform
In the afternoon, a specification change was needed to produce reinforced decking with a thickness of 2.0 mm. Old Qin led his apprentice to the die change area.
"Count the steps," he said. Step one: loosen the quick-release pins-eight orange handles turned halfway. Step two: disengage the main drive shaft-the die carriage with guides separates with a gentle push. Step three: hoist and install the new roller set-the positioning pins align automatically. Step four: lock and reset.
The apprentice checked his watch: 12 minutes and 38 seconds. The same die change operation on the old machine took at least forty-five minutes and required using an overhead crane and three workers.
The secret lies in the die design. Each set of rollers is equipped with an independent hydraulic locking device, which maintains the precision of the roller system while disconnecting the power transmission. The reference surface of the die base is specially ground, ensuring a repeat positioning error of no more than 0.03 mm-about half the diameter of a human hair.
